Following on from Coleman Racing’s 2017 successes they were honoured to be invited to the Union International Motonautique (UIM) 9th World Champions Awards Gala, staged at the iconic Sporting Monte-Carlo, Monaco on March 17 2018 which was sponsored by BUND Holding Group, H2O Racing and UNICEF. Sam & Daisy were the only British Powerboat Racers to secure any World Championship title in 2017 however fellow brits; Osprey Powerboat Rescue Team were awarded the prestigious UIM Safety Award. With over 50 years experience they provide a vital rescue service at UK and global powerboat race meetings, while its members also provide expert medical, scuba and boat training.
The latest Global Powerboat Champions received trophies in recognition of performance during the 2017 season in the presence of special guests Sergey Bubka, Senior Vice President of the IAAF and the Ukraine’s Olympic gold medalist and six-time Pole Vault World Champion, and three-time Olympic shooting champion Niccolò Campriani of Italy.
Alongside the world’s most esteemed powerboat racers the UIM awarded a number of special environmental awards; the top going to Switzerland’s International Academy of Sports Science and Technology (AISTS) for developing an inventory of trends and case studies aimed at determining the sustainability of international sporting federations.
As well as announcing AISTS won the main trophy, the UIM credited Special Mentions for “Greening the Sport” and for “Environmental Benefit” to H2O Racing and SEAir.
